Motorists in four-wheel-drive vehicles with high clearances can take a driving tour of game lands in Carbon and Luzerne counties to see food plots and other improvements.

A tour of State Game Land 141 on the Broad Mountain Nesquehoning, Carbon County will be offered Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The tour is self-guided, covers 9 miles and starts from the larger parking lot on the east side of Route 93.

On Oct. 8, a tour will take drivers across 30 miles of State Game Lands 57 in Forkston Twp., Wyoming County between 7:30 a.m. and noon. Drivers will receive a map and can see where the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s food and cover crew planted food plots with National Wild Turkey Federation, Whitetails Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited. Representatives from commission and conservation organizations will be on hand to explain the projects and answer questions.

To reach the start, take Route 118 to Route 487 north for 7.5 miles. Turn right to a dirt road near the game lands sing on the right, travel 0.1 miles to the “Y” intersection and go 0.3 miles to Ricketts Station headquarters.
