The Wyoming Valley Conference landed 10 players on this year’s Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association all-state team.
The District 2 champion Hazleton Area Cougars led the way with four players in Class 6A.
Sophomore shortstop Marissa Trivelpiece, sophomore third baseman Tiana Treon and freshman outfielder Julia Mrochko each represented the Cougars on first-team; senior pitcher Erika Book was named to the second-team.
A pair of Pittston Area players made second-team in Class 5A with junior first baseman Alexa McHugh and junior second baseman Lexi Felinski.
Tunkhannock junior shortstop Faith Jones made second-team in Class 4A. Wyoming Area sophomore Nicole Silinskie joined Jones on the second-team at the outfield position.
Holy Redeemer senior pitcher Morgan Bienkowski and junior catcher Tiana Wren each made the first-team in Class 3A.
According to information provided by the organization, the all-state team includes a nomination process that draws from more than 250 high school coaches and 140 sports writers.
The nominations are then considered by active members of the association as they deliberate for several weeks.
